My mission as a healthcare provider is to break down barriers to care so that my patients can live healthy, fulfilling, and pain-free lives. During my years in practice, I have found that time, financial constraints, and fear are the most substantial barriers to dental care. My expertise in IV sedation allows me to alleviate all three of these obstacles by getting as much done as possible in the time allotted.
A successful dental visit means I deliver the desired outcome for my patients and maximize the time we spend together so they can avoid investing more time and money down the road. Of course, IV sedation also helps to improve the patient’s level of comfort and makes for a far more positive experience overall.
Dr. Jinwoo Park, DDS, is a general dentist specializing in IV sedation for third molar extractions and implantology. He focuses on orthodontic treatments like Invisalign, crowns, and straight-wire orthodontics, which use advanced brackets and wires for teeth alignment. A graduate of UCSF, he completed advanced dental education at UTHealth Science Center in Houston. Dr. Park is a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) and the ICOI, the largest provider of dental implant education.
Even though he performs dramatic full smile makeovers and other aesthetic procedures, Dr. Park believes that smaller procedures can equally benefit a person’s life. He points to a problematic molar as an example. “Just one molar can decrease the ability to chew by 33% and quickly wear down the opposite side, leading to chronic pain and other ongoing issues. Improving a patient’s quality of life isn’t always as obvious as a cosmetic procedure, but it can still have an equally dramatic effect on their health and happiness.”
As a dentist who provides patient-centric care, Dr. Park carefully considers the dental history, expectations, and financial picture of each patient before creating a treatment plan. "Treating a patient goes way beyond looking into a person’s mouth," he says, adding, "Once the 'big picture' is established, I create a customized plan that balances their dental story with their personal story."
Growing up with a father who is a dentist, Dr. Park was exposed to dentistry from an early age—an experience that made a lasting impression on him as early on he expressed a desire to make an impact by providing healthcare services. Once he realized the true value of dentistry in improving the quality of people’s lives, he decided to pick up the drill and follow in his father’s footsteps.
An avid traveler who loves to indulge in new cuisines, Dr. Park first came to the US from South Korea when he was just 15 years old to study. Since then, he and his wife, Grace, lived in several different locales throughout the US before settling permanently in Texas—a state they say “feels like home.”
As a healthcare professional, Dr. Park is continually researching new and innovative technologies that have the potential to maximize their dental experience. A dedicated mentor (and mentee), he sees himself as a lifelong student of dentistry—a philosophy that helps him remain open to new solutions for old problems.
